    Indigo Earth: Japanese Shibori & Kasuri Textiles, showing at Galería La Mano Mágica, M. Alcalá 203, Centro Oaxaca, Nov. 16-19, 2016. Also known as Batik dyeing and Ikat weaving, the opening reception is on Nov. 16, 3-4:30pm and demonstrations held on Nov. 17-19, 1-2pm each day. I will be interpreting the demonstrations, selling textiles and exhibiting a couple of my artwork.

    OAXACA – SAN DIEGO – GRABADOS
    Colección de grabados de los talleres Rufino Tamayo, de Oaxaca, México, y The Midway Printmakers de San Diego California.

    Oaxaca y San Diego, ciudades al sur de sus respectivos países, ambas con una vibrante escena artística y una fuerte tradición del grabado, conectadas gráficamente en esta exhibición.

    La mística y la poética oaxaqueña se reflejan en esta colección de trabajos de la actual generación de artistas del Taller Rufino Tamayo, el cual abrió sus puertas hace 42 años, y entre sus fundadores se cuentan renombrados Juan Alcázar y Francisco Toledo. Además la exhibición incluye también obras del taller The Midway Printmakers, que ha sido impartido en el West City Campus, en San Diego California desde hace 32 años por Sfona Pelah, artista visual que ha trabajado gran parte de su obra usando técnicas de grabado y ha dedicado muchos años a enseñar y diseminar información sobre el grabado.

    La exhibición se inaugura el 6 de Mayo del 2016 y estará mostrándose a lo largo del mes de Mayo en The Front Gallery, dentro del marco del festival Fronteras, realizado por Casa Familiar en San Ysidro, California.

    The Front Arte & Cultura, punto de encuentro y un puente que a través del arte conecta y genera lazos entre comunidades, enriqueciendo asimismo a la comunidad fronteriza de San Ysidro.
    PRINTMAKING FROM THE SOUTH
    OAXACA – SAN DIEGO – GRABADOS

    Collection of prints from the workshops: Rufino Tamayo in Oaxaca, Mexico, and The Midway Printmakers in San Diego California.

    Oaxaca and San Diego, each one located south of their respective country, both with a vibrant arts scene and a strong printmaking tradition, connected graphically in this exhibit.

    Oaxacan mysticism and poetics are reflected in this collection of works by the current generation of artists of the Rufino Tamayo Workshop, which opened 42 years ago and among its founders counted with renowned Juan Alcazar and Francisco Toledo. In addition, the exhibition also includes works by The Midway Printmakers Workshop, which has been held at the West City Campus, in San Diego California for 32 years by Sfona Pelah, visual artist who in most of her artwork has used printmaking techniques, and has spent many years teaching and disseminating printmaking techniques information .

    The exhibition opens on May 6, 2016 and will be shown throughout May 2016 at The Front Arts & Culture Gallery, within the framework of the Festival Fronteras conducted by Casa Familiar in San Ysidro, California.

    The Front Arts & Culture, a meeting point and a bridge that connects communities through art and creates bridges between them while enriching the border community of San Ysidro.
